  Biography	William was born about 1808 in Rowan County, NC to John Doby and Bina (Johnson) Doby. He was married around 1826. The name of his wife is unknown. They had five known children: Calvin Doby, Nancy Jane (Doby) Seamon, Amanda Doby, John Gaston Doby, and another girl whose name is not known. On the 1830 and 1840 Census, William and the family are living in Davidson County, NC. He passed away after the 1840 Census but before November 1849 when he was listed as deceased in a court petition by his brother, Allen.
