    Biography Isham was born around 1808 in Wake County, NC, to Alsey Doby and Mary "Polly" (Sneed) Doby. Sometime between 1819 and 1830, Alsey relocated the family to Davidson County, NC. In 1830, he married Nancey Elizabeth Cook in Davidson County. They had six known children and two children who are unknown.

    On the 1830 and 1840 Census, he was in Davidson County. On the 1850 Census, he was in Surry County, NC, then in 1860, he was in Boone, Watauga County, NC.

    By 1870 he had relocated to Carter County, TN where he remained until his death. His exact death date and burial location are not known.
