[5] Obituary In the early morning of June 7, 2016, this Earth suffered a tremendous loss when the soul of Vicky Lynn Westbrook Cheek left this world of pain and sorrow to be forever with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held today, Friday, June 10, 2016, at Westover Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family visitation was held Thursday, June 9, from 7:00-9:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel. Preceded in death by her loving father, William Ballard Westbrook, and survived by her wonderful mother, Ruby Ann Sentelle Westbrook. She is also survived by her husband of over 33 years who was so blessed by her life, Vince Cheek, and her precious daughters Michelle Cheek Murray (and husband, Kenneth Murray), Megan Cheek Garriss (and husband, Todd Garriss), and Marlee Reid Cheek Hughes (and husband, Adam Hughes), as well as six fantastic grandchildren: Anna Murray, Jay Murray, Luke Murray, Daniel Hughes, Eli Hughes, and Joseph Hughes. Vicky was born in Alamance County to two very loving parents, grew up in Mebane, NC, where she also graduated from Eastern Alamance High School. After more education, she worked at North Carolina Memorial (now UNC) Hospital, then forewent a promising career with Procter and Gamble to dedicate her life to her children. She loved dancing, gospel music, and the Lord, often witnessing to complete strangers over the phone who might have called trying to sell her something but later got off the phone knowing they had been in the virtual presence of a true believer and messenger of God. Her favorite of all things on this earth was being with her family, and she loved showering them with her gifts, wisdom, and boundless heart. As life sometimes goes, she had many challenges and losses but faced each one with the determination and grit of a truly beautiful southern belle with her strong faith in Jesus and would never back down from the truth. She had no fear of the devil or anyone else who might try to stop her from what she knew was right or who might try to do anything to anyone she loved. She was afraid of little and never apologized for her faith. In this life, Vicky was yoked with many earthly struggles but faced them fearlessly with the conviction of a Christian warrior. She knew more pain and suffering than most of us, and she will doubtlessly have more stars in her crown than most. By now she has, no doubt, followed the suggestion of her great pastor and has already said "Hello" to Jesus, which was most likely followed by a request for the two of them to dance across heaven together. She will be missed down here by the ones she loved and who loved her, but only "for a season." Although she treasured flowers, she would have loved donations sent to Habitat for Humanity. d'Aboville # 1.01.02.01.02.08.02.01.07.01.03 Person ID I232339733054 Doby Last Modified 8 Sep 2024
