    Biography Marvin Osler Doby was born on October 9, 1922, in Surry County, NC to William Pinkney Doby and Cornelia Francis (Stanley) Doby. In 1930, the family was living in the Ruffing Township of Rockingham County, NC, but by 1942 when he registered for the World War II draft, he was living in Carthage, Moore County, NC. He married Cora Bell Lewis on May 11, 1946, in Alamance County, NC. Cora Bell Lewis was born on May 3, 1928, in Alamance County, NC, to Ed Andrew Lewis and Nannie (Westbrooke) Lewis. On the 1950 Census, he and his family were living in Cheeks Township of Orange County, NC. Cora passed away on October 9, 2011, in Mebane, NC. Marvin passed away on July 29, 2014, in Hillsborough, NC. Both were buried at Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mebane.

    Obituary Mr. Marvin Osler Doby, 93, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014. He was born in Surry County and lived most of his life in Mebane. He was employed by White Furniture Co. for more than 50 years. He enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing and hunting. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Pat Parker (Cliff), of Georgia and Janice Chappell (Mark) of Graham; a son, Wayne Doby (Gloria) of Mebane; a sister, Lexie Jacobs (Jake) of Mebane; three brothers, Everett Doby (Annie), Gurney Doby (Mary) and Paul Doby; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Paul Doby; and his wife, Cora Bell Lewis Doby; two brothers and one sister. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Walker's Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Hebron United Methodist Church cemetery.
