    Biography Lester Dewey Doby was born on October 29, 1929, in Surry County, North Carolina, to Richard "Dick" Green Doby and Pearl Jane (Griffin) Doby. On the 1930 Census, he lived with his parents and siblings in Dobson Township, Surry County, NC. On the 1940 Census, he lived with his parents and siblings in Jonesboro Township, Lee County, NC. On the 1950 Census, he lived with his parents and siblings in Carthage Township, Moore County, NC. He was married twice. First to Dorothy (maiden name unknown). They were divorced in 1958 in Harnett County, NC, and he remarried to Gladys Campbell. He passed away on May 15, 1966, in Southern Pines, Moore County and was buried at Rocky Fork Christian Church Cemetery in Sanford, Lee County.

    Graveside services for Lester Dewey Doby 36, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rocky Fork Christian Church cemetery near Sanford by the Rev. C. Parker Thomas. He was a native of Surry County and was employed by the Sandhill Awning Co. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Glady Campbell Doby; his mother, Mrs. R. G. Doby of Carthage; one sister, Mrs. Mary Watkins of Carthage; four brother, William and Floyd Doby of Carthage, George Doby of Sanford and James O. Doby of Bassett, Va.
